On a Ford I had, one of the cluster connectors came loose and because of that the alternator quit charging, so you should check a wiring diagram to make sure nothing important is going to quit working because there’s no cluster.

I have the same bluetooth speaker, it’s pretty damn decent.
I’d probably be inclined to update the car to some kind of modern double-DIN headunit if only to get stuff like bluetooth and Android Auto.
With a Scosche dash kit , it doesn’t look terrible...
There’s also a Metra kit, and that’s what Crutchfield includes if you buy from them, but apparently the plastic is kinda flimsy and doesn’t match the dash as well as the Scosche kit.

We just ended up sending the OEM stereo off to be fixed. It wasn’t that broken, just a few diodes and a cleaning after 314,000 miles and 20 years. Also sounds amazing still.
